Feasibility Study

Feasibility study is a high level version of the entire system analysis and design process. The purpose of feasibility study is not to solve the problem but to determine if the problem is worth solving. It is conducted to select performance requirements.

           Our project is:

  1. Technically Feasible: As the project is built on top of MS.NET framework, it provides the most promising technology implementations of the world class standards of the ms.net. The project is platform independent as it runs in a managed environment unlike C/C++ i.e. it runs in any operating system provided the environment exists for that platform.

We would be using free and open source tools, libraries to achieve some advanced functionality. The system is built using the Visual Studio 2005-TeamSystem (evaluation edition) and has all the features sufficient to perform design, coding analysis, testing phases of the project. In addition to it, several open-source & third party plug-ins would be used and will be mentioned in detail in the acknowledgements section later.

Thus the project is technically feasible.

  1. Economically Feasible: Because of the usage of the open-source and free software tools in development process, the cost involved in development is zero. However, minimum requirements like Computers, internet, etc are provided by our institution and hence those costs are also minimized. And hence the project is economically feasible.
  2. Legally Feasible: Determines whether the proposed system conflicts with legal requirements, e.g. the Data Protection Act. And as we are implementing project using free & open source tools ,the project is legally feasible
  3. Schedule Feasible: This involves questions such as how much time is available to build the new system, when it can be built, whether it interferes with normal business operation, number of resources required, dependencies etc. and proposed project development period of semester is sufficient to build a working model of the proposed system. Hence project is schedule feasible/time feasible.
